After putting Boston on standstill for an entire day, the 19-year-old suspect was finally cornered by police Friday evening in a boat located in a Watertown resident’s backyard. The brother, 26, was killed earlier on Friday, and was wearing explosives when police shot him.
The 19-year-old was laying down in the boat, under the vinyl boat cover, and was suffering from a gunshot wound from the earlier shooting. A helicopter flying overhead was able to find the body of the suspect by detecting heat.
Many rejoiced as soon as the news came, and Bostonians are glad to finally be able to sleep tonight without any worry of suspects on the loose.
However, there are still many questions that need answers. While the 19-year-old is in custody, he is being treated for a gun shot wound and loss of blood.
Why did the brothers do it? How did they plan it? Are they Chechen terrorists? Did they belong to a terrorist group or receive help? Did the older brother brainwash the younger brother?
If he makes it out of the hospital alive, some have questioned the death penalty. But, others wish a long life imprisonment, where he can reflect on the harm and tragedy he has caused in our country.
Only time will be able to provide us with answers to our questions, and we can only hope that this incident can only make Boston, and America, stronger.
